Lead teacher / head of school
I am so excited to be on this journey with you! I am a husband to an amazing educator as well and a proud father of my 1-year-young daughter! I have a Bachelor’s in Elementary Education and have worked in various capacities from kindergarten up to high school math. I believe there is more we can do to help foster and build up the next generation of leaders and innovators. I have witnessed the love young kids have for being outside and playing, and moreover, the amazing effects and results it has on their learning and character. Couple that with the ability to bring God into it, and Deeply Rooted Nature School has something very special. I am blessed, thrilled, and honored to be working with Deeply Rooted Nature School as we embark to leverage all the well-researched advantages of the outdoors, and God’s promises, into a powerful education system. I look forward to meeting you and your child!

Starting Deeply Rooted Nature School has been a dream come true. Even before earning my Bachelor’s in Art Education (Grades K-12), I have been passionate about affirming kids in their creativity. I love helping children cultivate, express, and trust their creativity to lead them to new spaces of service and impact never before imagined. I believe creativity comes from being made in the image of the Creator God, and it brings me joy to see children learn about God’s love and His dreams for their lives. I have enjoyed teaching this in various environments including homeschooling my kids, teaching weekly character-building kids’ classes (with hands-on activities, songs, stories, etc.), and starting an art and nature camp in my backyard and at the local beach. In addition to teaching kids, I enjoy spending time with my family, visiting beautiful places in nature, going on walks, cooking, music, and serving with my church.

Some years ago when I began my personal journey with Jesus, I felt a calling to work with kids. For the past 10 plus years I have worked with kids of all ages teaching and leading programs to help kids to gain a better picture of who Jesus is, who they are, and encourage in them a desire to discover their purpose in this life! This has included working with my own kids as a homeschool teacher to grow their learning and empower their passion. I enjoy spending time with my husband and four kids outdoors on walks or hikes, gardening, and playing music together. I am especially passionate about music and love teaching it to kids in addition to other subjects outdoors.
All teaching team members hold a Forest School Teacher Certificate from the Forest School Teacher Institute as well as current First Aid and CPR certification.
